This ain’t your granddaddy’s recap
Hey there! It’s your ever-present support the Supple Boiz, and we’re back for your weekly recap! Another week of great KLC Press content has passed once again! If you missed any of the action, take a look at klcpress.com and check out the past week’s newsletters to catch up! Let’s look back at the week:
We kicked off this week with a special presentation of 50 minutes of golden comics writing advice from the one and only MR. DONATHAN CATES. He hangs with the Supple Boiz for a while and drops some knowledge, answering audience questions and sharing anecdotes about writer’s block, crafting character backstories, writing characters with complex continuity, working with editors, finding characters’ voices, going to school for comics, keeping plots on track, bouncing your ideas off of others, and structuring stories! Oh Donny, you’re almost too generous with your genius. The Supples are coming for your throne.
Throughout the last few weeks (and this week was no exception), Ryan Stegman has been whipping up some stunning five-minute sketches and auctioning them off on Whatnot! It’s a cool platform and a great way to get your greedy little hands on some shiny comic book treasure. Make sure to give Ryan a follow HERE so that you know when he’s auctioning and you can grab one for yourself! Unless you have something else to do, like a DUMMY.
Our grand finale for the week was one of our famous LIVESTREAMS where you, the wonderful KLC Press community, join Ryan Stegman and the Supples onscreen to hang out while Stegman whips up a beautiful sketch which is then raffled off to one lucky subscriber! This week we were joined by Charles Soule and Chip Zdarsky (the streams have their ups and downs) as Ryan worked up a thrilling SCARLET WITCH sketch! Like from that movie! I wanna see that! Check out the stream, the sketch, and its winner below!
And with the passing of the legendary Neal Adams this week, we wanted to celebrate his legacy by sharing a rare French short film from 1972. Click the image below to check out a jam session with Neal, Joe Kubert and Jean “Moebius” Giraud (two other comic book titans we’ve lost). We see this kind of thing quite a bit these days, but back before widespread comic conventions and the internet it’s not something that happened very often in public, or was even documented. Enjoy this amazing time capsule!
That’s about it! Thanks for joining us for another great week, and we’ll see you back here next week for more! Can you believe there’s more than this? Me neither!
But in the meantime…
