Hey there! It’s your future-favorite-comic-book-writers-but-currently-just-podcast-guys the Supple Boiz, and we’re back for your weekly Friday recap! This week was all about the man, the myth, the legend… Todd McFarlane. We kicked off the week by announcing that on Wednesday we’d be HOSTING THE MAN HIMSELF… But more on that in a minute. We put out a big, fancy press release teasing a great conversation between local boys Donny and Ryan and their hero Todd and even teased an announcement or two! Very cool. But the love-fest didn’t end there.
Tuesday we all just sat around and thought about how much we love Todd. For real, we just posted a bunch of sick-ass McFarlane art and also McFarlane-inspired art by Cates and Stegman. And then, Donny and Ryan wrote some lovely words about how much Todd and his art have meant to them and impacted their careers. It was the best. But that all paled in comparison to the BIG EVENT…
On Wednesday god damn TODD MCFARLANE showed up to KLC PRESS! In a super-sized livestream, Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman sat down with their greatest inspiration (and the very inspiration for this entire imprint!), diving deep into a discussion about comics, motivation, fame, Hollywood, burnout, satisfaction, and so. Much. More. Todd is just an unbelievable personality and the conversation is something you just absolutely can NOT miss. Check it out if you haven’t seen it yet.
Because this week is all one big tribute to Mr. McFarlane, our Thursday livestream featured Ryan sketching VIOLATOR! Twice, actually! We raffled those sketches off to a couple of lucky subscribers, but the fun didn’t stop there! Ryan pulled out some very special Venom and King in Black variants from his disastrous office and raffled them off as well! The winners of all these beautiful prizes can be found below:
