DONNY & RYAN REACT to the FINAL MORBIUS TRAILER
Welcome back to "Let's Go Leto" everyone
Donny Cates: Hi, everybody. Um, what just happened to us was Griffin and Ethan made us watch the new trailer for Morbius.
Ryan Stegman: Which I'm sure they think looks good.
Donny: The final trailer, right? So we just watched that. And now we're supposed to talk about it on this segment of the Half-Assed Substack Podcast. I don't want to do that. Do you, Ryan?
Ryan: I'll say this... Leto looks super Leto-y. There's a bad joke in there. I think it's probably bad. That's about all I got. I am possibly on a DVD extra saying that I'm excited about this movie.
Donny: Oh, right. That's right, Ryan and I might be on the DVD extra of this movie. I guess we might be on this movie somewhere saying how much we love it. So I'll reserve my judgment here. I'll say that it looks remarkably like a trailer for a Batman film, in every way possible. John Hill, our own chief of operations staff here said that he can't wait to see Jared Leto just say "I'm Batman". And I'll say this: That release date is awfully suspect. April Fool's Day is a little on the nose. I half expect to go into the theaters and see it and them to be like, "Hey, guess what guys? We never actually made a Morbius film. This has all just been a joke. Enjoy the new Into the Spider-Verse film", and they just made a trailer.
Ryan: Oh my god, that'd be the greatest thing of all time.
Donny: It'd be amazing. They're like, "Guys, we didn't really waste time making a Morbius film".
Ryan: Yeah, the fact that this keeps getting pushed back... I mean, what is it?
Donny: I think what it is, if I had to completely fucking hazard a guess, because I don't know anything, is that a lot of those early trailers for Morbius had like Sam Raimi Spider-Man in it. You know, like the poster in the back had that and now it has, you know, the Vulture in it right? Michael Keaton. Maybe they were literally just waiting for No Way Home to come out so that that all made sense. So they can integrate it into a world that was post-No Way Home where the world saw three Spider-Men.
Ryan: Well, I like the idea of it just sucking a bit more.
Donny: Yeah, yeah. I'm going to be very interested to see what Marvel's reaction to this is, because the opening credits say "From the Studio that Brought You Spider-Man: No Way Home". And it should say "From the Studio that Let Marvel Make No Way Home for You". I'm interested to see what the reaction to this is on the Marvel side because we all know Blade is coming. Right? And presumably they're going to set up some world here with Morbius, you know, tentatively tied to the rest of the Marvel canon. It seems like what they're doing with the Vulture thing. Now... The last time Sony played this gambit of ending a movie where their character joins the MCU was in Venom 2, Eddie Brock joins the MCU, Marvel's reaction to that was "Yeah, but then he just gets drunk and asks some questions about Thanos and then gets sucked back home". Like, Kevin Feige was like "Mm-mm. Back home to you. Back home with you. Go back to where you came from". So we'll see. I think it'd be really awesome if they did a Morbius film, and they spent a lot of money on it, and then the opening scene of Blade is Blade just murdering him and moving right along with his business. It'd be great.
Kids Love Chains. And we love you.Â
