A new blockbuster spin-off in the works!
HEY!!!! We’re excited to announce that the VANISH universe is about to get a whole lot bigger. A new prequel series set in the world of VANISH is launching through the KLC Press newsletter with writer KENNY PORTER and artist RYAN LEE at the helm.
VANISH: The Golden War
In 1944, two wizards are exiled from the Everkeep and pose as Golden Age superheroes during WWII. Determined to create a safer world for their son, they stand against the occult forces of Nazi Germany with other exiles willing to take up the fight. But when a dangerous magical artifact is stolen by a crazed general, the fate of Earth, The Everkeep, and their son will be thrown into jeopardy.
It’s a story of love, loss, and lots of dark magic mayhem set against the classic superhero backdrop of the Golden Age. You’ll see them fighting man-eating tanks, living mortar shells, and magically imbued Uber Men deadset on helping their general conquer both The Everkeep and our world.
First Thoughts From the Team
RYAN LEE: Taking on this project was a no-brainer. Any time I get to work closely with friends and have this much autonomy to flesh out characters/the world they inhabit is an ideal fit for me. The VANISH universe Ryan and Donny dreamed up is inventive, weird, and fully formed in all the ways that appeal to me. Keeping that in mind, the structure of the story allows for intentional nooks and crannies to expand and explore without constraint. Kenny (in his natural virtuoso manner) has filled in those well-placed gaps with a script that not only satisfies and enriches the predominant Vanish mythos but is filled with big creative swings and wild comic book candy visuals. He knows me and knows what I want to draw. Thanks guys!
KENNY PORTER: At its heart, this is a story about someone who had a destructive childhood and wants to make the world a better place for their son. It’s something that really resonates with me and I’m so excited to be telling this story with Ryan, Donny, and Ryan. Not only do I get to work with super-talented people, but I also get to play in a world that Ryan and Donny created that’s tons of fun. Plus, I’ll jump at any chance to work on a comic book with Ryan Lee. I can’t wait for people to see what we’ve cooked up!

Ryan Lee is a Michigan-based Comic Artist/Illustrator. His work specializes in the macabre, strange, fantastical, quirky, and monstrous. Most recently, he’s worked on several Rick and Morty projects at Oni Press. He’s also the artist/co-creator of the critically-acclaimed thriller/horror comic, “Mountainhead” from IDW Publishing. In the past he’s worked with Black Mask Studios, Marvel, and Valiant to name a few.
