5th week’s the charm
Hey folks! It’s us, the Supple Boiz, and we’re here for your weekly Friday recap! MAKE SURE YOU READ TO THE END FOR AN ANNOUNCEMENT ON HOW TO WIN SKETCHES FROM RYAN NEXT WEEK!
It’s been another hectic week full of surprises and reveals here at KLC Press! If you missed any of the good stuff, take a look at klcpress.substack.com and check out the past week’s newsletters to catch up! Let’s do a little flashback to the good ol’ days (the last few days)...
We kicked the week off with an all-new episode of the hit show RYAN AND DONNY’S HALF-ASSED SUBSTACK PODCAST, in which Donny and Ryan broke down the principle VANISH characters we’ve seen in the released art so far! From Oliver Harrison to Battle Rocket to the big bad Baron Vanish himself, the boys have a fun conversation about not only crafting the story of these insane new characters, but also the process of creating their incredible designs! One of them has big scary spider legs, that’s pretty fucked up!
Next up, the KLC Press Substack finally became the exclusive home of Donny Cates and Dylan Burnett’s new series THE ONE YOU FEED! The first issue previously dropped over on Panel Syndicate, but this week it dropped HERE and, moving forward, all further issues will also be released HERE! If you haven’t heard, this series ties into the God Country mythos and is full of big swords and werewolves! Do you need to hear more than that? Like what?? What could possibly sell you on this book more than big swords and werewolves??? Any reasonable person would be happy with that.
Finally, we had another 3+ hour livestream with artist extraordinaire Ryan Stegman where paid subscribers had the opportunity to join the stream and speak directly to the man himself (as well as the Supples)! This week was a special one however, as Ryan took a little break from working on pages of VANISH on the stream and instead banged out a beautiful variant cover for Matthew Rosenberg’s upcoming series What’s the Furthest Place From Here? Matt was even kind enough to drop by for a majority of the stream to talk to all the folks! What a guy! Chip Zdarsky was there for a bit as well, which only served to make Matt seem like an even better guy!
It’s been so great getting all this stuff out to you guys, thanks so much for joining us as always!
WIN SKETCHES FROM RYAN
This coming Wednesday (9/22, time TBD but sometime after 6 pm EST) Ryan will be doing a live stream where he will be drawing a sketch of a character of his choice. PAID subscribers will be able to reply in the comments to that post with their email address and thus be entered into a lottery to win the sketch!
Fret not though, unpaid subscribers! At the end of the stream Ryan will be doing 4 RAPID FIRE sketches. ALL subscribers, paid and unpaid will have a chance to win this one! Same rules apply, you will need to reply under the post to be entered to win.
This should be a lot of fun so…Be there!!!!
RECOMMENDATION IF YOU DON’T MIND
As absolutely off-putting of a person as Chip Zdarsky may be, his Substack is pretty solid. We wanted to take a moment to highlight his September 14th newsletter, where Chip lays out a whiteboard of the literal DOZENS of projects he has coming up. It’s super illuminating as to Chip’s psychopathy, and I guess maybe it’s also funny whatever. Check it out below!

KLC’S WEEKEND SOUNDTRACK
We’ve got some great tunes for your weekend courtesy of US, the Supple Boiz!
Griffin's pick:
"One More Time/Aerodynamic" - Daft Punk, from 'Alive 2007'
It’s only been 6 months since they officially announced their retirement but, I already miss Daft Punk so damn much.
This live album is absolutely nuts. If you haven't heard it, please do yourself a favor and give it a listen next time you're jamming on something or working out!
Ethan's pick:
"Whistle For The Choir" - The Fratellis
I’m a big Fratellis fan, and their whole Costello Music album is a pretty regular listen for me.
This fantastic track was recently featured in the soundtrack for James Gunn's hit HBO Max film THE SUICIDE SQUAD (ever heard of it???) and I was thrilled when it popped up in the movie. Such a good vibe.
That's it for us, we’ll see you all on Monday!
But in the meantime…
